Exports goods exported include petroleum, benzene, kerosene, natural gas, gold, sesame, cotton, gum Arabic, sugar, meat, peanuts, leather, molasses, livestock, animal feed and various others. The return form exports was as follows:
Source: 2001 Annual Report, Bank of Sudan The value of petroleum exports increased from 1350.9 million dollars in 2000 to 1376.6 million dollars in 2001 with an increase of 1.9%. After completion of exporting of Sudanese goods to the importing countries in 2001 we find the countries recorded the following percentages:
Source: The General Administration of the Customs Police As for the destination of Sudanese exports the Asian countries group represented the largest market for Sudanese exports in 2001 as they have received 78.25 of the total exports. The Peoples Republic of China is considered the largest importer of Sudanese goods with 59.8% of the total exports followed by Singapore 8.1% then Japan at 4.9% and South Korea at 3.9%.
Imports Major imports include machinery and other capital equipment, foodstuffs, manufactured goods, transportation means, chemicals, and textiles as clarified in the table below:
